Purpose
Ehime University Support for Pioneering Research Initiated by the Next Generation (EU SPRING) provides financial
support to outstanding doctoral students who play an important role in the creation of Japan’s science, technology,
and innovation to help them devote themselves to creative and challenging research, as well as educational support
such as career development and training programs to foster doctorate holders who can be active in diverse career
paths.

Number of supported students in AY 2024 : 28 students
Number of supported students in AY 2025 (planned) : 32 students
Support:①Financial Support 2,680,000 yen/year
Research Support Grant:2,400,000 yen/year (200,000 yen/month)
* Living expenses to support the students to devote themselves to their own research
Research Funding : 280,000 yen/year
Overseas Travel Expenses : Maximum 400,000 yen /One time during the support period

②Career Development Support
SPRING offers the following 4 mandatory subjects : 4 credits
(Non-EU SPRING students can also take the subjects and obtain the credits)
English language skill enhancement, Research related skills enhancement, Career development skills
enhancement, Internship
③Other Support
Generic Skills Assessment, Achievement Presentation, Support for Securing Intellectual
Property Rights, etc.
Support Period : Maximum 3 years
